WEEK 9

CONTROLLER CIRCUIT PART

PIC 16F877A

The pin RB0-RB7, RC0-RC7, and RD7 are digital l/O pins, while pins AN0-AN7 are for analog I/O.RA0-RA5 and RE0-RA5 RE0-RE2 are also ports, but with fewer pins. Some of these pins have special purposes, but mot can be used as basic input/output pins. For example, you can set pin RBO to be either an input pin, or an output pin. As an input pin, the digital voltage on the pin can be read in. For example, if RBO is connected to ground (0v), then you would read a digital 0 If RBO was connected to power (5v), then you would read a digital 1. On the other hand, if you wanted to set RBO as an output pin, you could choose to make RBO either be 5v, or 0v.This can be used, for example, to turn off or on a LED, or to turn off or on a motor.

OPTOISOLATOR AND TRIAC SWITCHING

TRIAC, from Triode for AC is a generalized trade name for an electronic component which can conduct current in either direction when it is triggered (turn on), and is formally called a bidirectional triode thyristor or bilateral triode thyristor. When used with inductive loads such as electric fans, care must be taken to assure that the TRIAC will turn off correctly at the end of each half-cycle of the AC power. An optoisolator, also called an optocoupler, photocoupler or optical isolator is an electronic device designed t transfer electrical signals by utilizing lights waves to provide coupling with electrical isolation between its input and output. The main purpose of an optoisolator is to prevent high voltages or rapidly changing voltages on one side of the circuit from damaging components or distorting transmission on the other side.

INDUCTOR

When current 1st starts flowing in the coil, the coil wants to build up a magnetic field. While the field is build, the coil inhibits the flow of current. Once the field is built, current can flow normally through the wire. When the switch gets opened, the magnetic field around the coil keeps current flowing in the coil until the field collapse. This current keeps flows for a period of time even though the switch is open. In other words, an inductor can store energy in its magnetic filed, and an inductor tends to resist any change in the amount of current flowing through it. Basically an inductor consists of a number of coils and based on the laws of EMI it produces a flux which opposes the change in current.

The inductor opposes changes in a variable in the circuit. The indictor likes to maintain a constant current.

CONTROLLER CIRCUIT OPERATION

The triac switching unit described here is the same basic design used in many solid state relays (SSR). The center of the circuit is the MOC3042 or MOC3041 opto isolator. The difference between these parts is the current required to trigger the internal LED. The resistor limits the current from the cap into the opto isolator and causes the LED to illuminate inside the chip. Line voltage flows through the 360 ohm resistor and into the zero-crossing circuit in the opto isolator. When the zero-crossing circuit detects a zero crossing voltage and the LED is illuminated, the gate on the triac in the optoisilator is triggered with the same phase as the phase of the line voltage. This line phase current is then used as the gate trigger to the alternator. This causes the line current to flow through the alternator and power the load. This circuit only works if line current is fed into pin 6 of the opto isolator. If the circuit hooked up wrong, the zero-crossing circuit will not detect the voltage zero crossing and will not trigger the alternator. A common mistake in this circuit is to take the series gate resistor too large in value. The circuit also builds with LC circuit that acts electrical resonator. It’s also known as resonant circuit or tuned circuit. Its can stores electrical energy oscillating at its resonant frequency. The capacitor stores energy in electric field by depending on the voltage across it and inductor stores energy and its magnetic field depending on current that flows through it. This circuit will be a key component in circuit application for oscillator, filter, tuner & frequency mixer. The main purpose of this circuit is to do oscillation with minimum damping.

BENEFITS/CONTRIBUTION

The benefits of this Quality Wireless Indoor Controllable Lights are that it can make people saving their cost by cutting their electricity bill. Besides, we also can decrease the problem of our country which house burning because short circuit by lightening or people died because of short current. Additional, this project also can make our life more comfortable and safety from any other electricity problem. This project also used fully facilities from voice recognition. The Quality Wireless Indoor Controllable also can be used by the homeowner with limited knowledge in electrical wiring because this project only used the program & only installed it once in a lifetime. Last but not least, this wireless controllable also can be used for any other AC devices.

PROJECT SCOPE

The project scope to produce the proposed product including the process of researching the ideas, references, and information to develop a quality wireless indoor controllable that having a low cost systems and beneficial. Another project scope is to analyze how the voice recognition can be implemented with the microcontroller to produce a command to the wall unit which controls the lights or any other AC devices. Speech recognition is classified into 2 categories which is speaker dependent & speaker independent. Speech recognition systems have another constraint concerning the style of speech they can recognize. There are 3 styles which is isolated, connected and continuous.

WEEK 6

FLOW CHART

Based on the flow chart for voice recognition systems, the voice command stated that when decimal 1 or 00000001 in binary means that to turn on output number1. For decimal 2 or 00000010 in binary means that to turn on output number2. The decimal 3 or 00000011 in binary means that to turn on output number3. For decimal 4 or 00000100 in binary means that to turn on output number3. Therefore, the voice command also stated that when decimal 5 or 00000101 in binary means that to turn off output number5. Then for decimal 6 or 00000110 in binary means that to turn off output number6. For decimal 7 or 00000111 in binary means that to turn off output number7 & for decimal 8 or 00001000 in binary means that to turn off output number8.

WEEK 5

OPERATIONS

The circuit is powered from a 9volt battery that is connected to an ON Semiconductor NCV7805 Positive Voltage Regulator to limit & stabilize the board voltage to +5.0volts. all ICs are powered from this regulated +5.0volts with the SRAM also having an additional backup CR2032 +3.0volt button battery. The CR2032 allows the main power to be shut off, while retaining all the neural network memory in the SRAM chip & not requiring the circuit to be re-trained each time the units is shut down. The microphone & the keypad consist of the only user interfaces with the circuit. The microphone is standard PC microphone which acts as the transducer converting the pressure waves to an electrical signal. The microphone is coupled to the HM2007 IC which is attempting to classify each word into the different trained categories. The keypad consists of 12 normally-open momentary contacts switches. These were soldered onto a printed circuit board which was used to communicate with the HM2007 IC. The keypad allowed the user to train the system & also clear the memory. The circuit outputs consist of the two 7-segment display & the LED. The 7-segment display shows any error codes, show the target being trained & the final classification by the HM2007system. As designed in the circuit, the top display is the most significant & the bottom is the least significant. For example, the number 9 would show a 0 on the top display & a 9 on the bottom display. Only 01 through 08 was used for this project. The LED is connected to the HM2007 IC & is used to show the status of the HM2007 IC. When the LED is on, the system is listening & will classify all incoming sounds. When the LED is off, the system has been placed in training mode, and when the LED flashes, it indicates that the word spoken was just successfully trained & placed into memory. The core component of this project was the HM2007 LSI circuit manufactured by Hualon Microelectronics Corporation.
This is complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) voice recognition chip that contains an analog front end, voice analysis, recognition process via neural network, and system control functions. The SRAM chip was a Hitachi HM6264LP-70. It is an 8192 word by 8-bit static random access memory with a read/write time less than 150ns. All the information from the HM2007 IC is stored off-board onto the SRAM chip. The 74LS373 is an Octal D-Type Transparent Latch. It is used to retain the binary-coded decimal (BCD) data from the HM2007 on the 7-segment display. Two 4511 CMOS ICs were also used. These are BCD to 7-segment Decoders that convert the BCD data stored in the 74LS373 to outputs capable of driving the 7-Segment Displays .One IC is used for each of the 7-Segment Displays.
